The Bluetick Coonhound dog breed is muscular and fast and has got the reputation for his striking coat. The breed has a sweetly pleading expression as well as a big bawl mouth. Although the dog is a hunter first, the Bluetick dog breed can become a smart housedog and loves his family members.

This dog has an honorable history, as a successor of the English Foxhound and the French Grand Bleu de Gascogne, countless of whom were brought to the US in the colonial times. On the trail, the Bluetick may be slower than some of his coonhound compatriots, but he has a powerful nose and attitude of never giving up.
Although the dog is a hunter first, he can become a smart housedog and loves his family members. Keep in your mind that hound dog has always been a challenge to train. Be persistent and patient as you assist them to find their way, which is more possible to be food than any true wish to amuse.

Females: standing 23 to 28 inches and weigh 45 to 85 pounds
