The Stabyhoun dog breed is tolerant and loving and this hunting dog gets on with people, children, and other pets. Anyhow, like all sporting dog breeds, he requires plenty of exercises to remain pleased and relaxed. He is extremely good at water retrieving in particular but loves other canine sports as well.

The Stabyhoun dog breed was developed in the northeastern part of the Netherlands, where the breed was utilized as all-around hunting and watch-dog. His name is thought to be taken from words of the Dutch “sta me bij hond” meaning “stand by me dog”. He an awesome retriever, particularly from water, so if you live near a lake or have a pool, he will have a ball. Like most of the other sporting breeds, he is tolerant, friendly, and willing to joy. He loves to take a part in dog sports such as fly-ball, obedience, and agility.
The Stabyhoun enjoys spending his time with his family and is affectionate with kids and other pets. Start training early to take most of his smartness and desire to stay with you.
